SmooshLazy

SmooshLazy plugin displays images and/or iframes on a page only when they are visible to the user. This reduces the number of HTTP requests and improves page load time.

This plugin works on thumbnails, all images in a post content or in a widget text, avatars, smilies and iframes. No JavaScript library such as jQuery is used and the script weight is less than 10KB.

You can also replace Youtube iframes by a preview thumbnail to further speed up page load time.

Lazy load images for mobile speed.

Plugin load time: 2.6 milliseconds (0.0026 seconds)

An image is loaded when it’s needed rather than all at once – by scrolling through the page.

Lazy loading is a technique for deferred loading of page content. With lazy loading, pages are created with placeholder content which is replaced with actual content when the user needs it. Lazy loading increases user time spent on a page (dwell time) because the new content loads automatically.

Lazy loading is good because it delays loading of images below the fold. It’s a good trick.

We use lazy loading wherever and whenever possible for mobile speed.

What we like most about SmooshLazy: No JavaScript library such as jQuery is used and the script weight is 1k to 6k. Fast. And, it defers about 500k video page weight on heavy pages.
